Best Answer: Computer make and model number. There are tons of Ethernet controllers. It is determined by what Ethernet controller you have. I deleted my ethernet controller and its drivers also by accident, i have an windows xp professional edition computer, and i dont which site and/or ethernet controller and driver(s) from can you please help me, i tried something earlier and i thought it had worked but unfortunaly it didnt, im a collefe student and i really need my computer.
So recently I was having issues with my internet due to comcast doing work in my area but just around when they finished up, I got a whole new problem. My internet was working fine earlier yesterday, but all the sudden it just stopped working. I checked device manager and there are a bunch of unrecognized 'network controllers' that have no drivers. This confused me because I never uninstalled anything. I tried to find a CD or something that would have drivers on it for this but I don't have any. A system restore didn't help either. I can't update drivers from the internet because I don't have internet and I don't know what drivers to get anyway. How can I check what drivers I need for the network controllers?
I was originally using wifi, and I installed Hamachi to allow for a more direct hosting option for my game servers, but now I no longer needed it, and uninstalled it. However now, I have no Ethernet adapter (it doesn't appear in my list of adapters).
I have attempted to search for the correct drivers, but so far no luck. I have:
I am at work at the moment, so I am unable to give all the necessary information for my PC, but I will be able to get that all later. For now: Jagga jasoos video songs.
EDIT
Network Controller Driver Compaq
Ethernet adapter properties:
Currently installed adapters
Network Controller Driver Intel
I have found (what I believe to be) the driver i need, however, before the process even starts, I get this error:

You need to get the PCI vendor and device string from Device Manager. Right click the unknown device->properties->details. Then use the dropdown to pick Hardware IDs. You will see something like PCIVEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_E0001458&REV_06
In this instance, the Vendor ID is 10EC and the device ID is 8168.
Download torrent slicemaker standard key. You can then use the site www.pcidatabase.com to start narrowing it down. It may not tell you who sold the card, but it will at least tell you the chipset, and from there you can figure it out.
